The Colour  blue

The Cyanotype is very often the first process you will encounter in alternative photography. This is due to the absolute simplicity of this nearly fail – safe technique and the likelihood that you will make a good print within a short time.

Cyanotype is an ultraviolet (UV) sensitive contact printing process that requires a negative the same size as the final print. The blue color of the Cyanotype print is the result of the reaction of ferrous ions to the photo reduction of ferric ammonium citrate in combination with potassium ferricyanide.

• 100 ml ferric ammonium citrate solution (A)
• 100 ml potassium ferricyanide solution (B)
• 500 ml Hydrogen Peroxide to make 6 liters of working solution
•   15 sheet Hahnemühle "Platinum Rag" 20,3 x 25,4 cm
•      1 Hake Brush 25 mm
•        2 pipettes
•        1 instruction

A real treat for all "Noble Printers"
When applying emulsions, Goat hair virtually  leaves no traces on the paper; it binds the absorbed liquid and applies it to the paper. In order to avoid chemical  reactions these brushes are made without any metal parts. In order to save on  expensive emulsions the brush hair can be moistened before starting work in
distilled water and squeezed out with a piece of kitchen roll . This measure
prevents the usual soaking of the entire brush hair with emulsion .
